I found a lump in my breast in July and went to my OB/GYN in August after the boys started school to have it checked out. My Dr. figured it wasn't anything but still thought I should have a mammogram since turning the wonderful 4-0! I went for the mammogram and they also did a sonogram. They couldn't really tell if it was serious or not so they referred me to the St. Augustine clinic to get it checked out further. They tried to aspirate it (get the fluid out) but there was none. So, they took a tissue sample. All along I was like "No big deal! I can get some new, perky boobies if I need to!" Well, when it came time for the actual biopsy, it was scary and it got REAL! You hear about so many women that get breast cancer. Why not me? I could be me! It made me feel a little better, though, that if it was something then it was caught really early. Well, I finally got the call from my Dr. when I was at the Children's Museum in Jacksonville with Kimberly and all 3 kids. Thank God it was benign. Great, great, great news! I couldn't have been more relieved or happier. But, I think of all those women who didn't get that call but got the other one and my heart is with them every time I see a pink ribbon, hear a story or find out about someone affected. It could have been me! It could still be me in the future or anyone of us. For now, I am VERY relieved to know and be assured that I am fine!
